Hostel Part 1 and 11 were shown on TV this weekend. Both were disturbing, because of the horrid subject matter and the fact I watched them from beginning to end. When I finished viewing them on Saturday night I had a rancid taste in my mouth and my soul knew what I had just watched was evil. Both movies were bathed in blood and sickness.
Yes, it is Halloween, a time to watch at least one scary movie…..scary I am fine with, distressing I am not. Hostile’s theme was to lure innocent people into the clutches of an unscrupulous society. That society/business provided a place for those who wanted to taste what torturing and killing someone would be like. The monetary price was high for those wanting the adventure.
I pondered why these two movies bothered me so. As I put the pieces together I mourned the fact I had been sucked into watching something so foul. Children were in both these movies. They were very young and they were a group of violent children called, “The Bubblegum Gang.” They were thieves and they physically hurt others, but that was not the part that bothered me to the point of feeling sick to my stomach. What did was the scene where a woman’s head was severed from her body and the children kicked her head around and it turned into a game of soccer. There was no remorse portrayed in these children, not even one of them to shed a tear and give us hope for emotion. I wondered about the parents who let their children star in such a cold hearted scene. What happened to these children after the move was made… how could these children not have been emotionally impacted in their real life by being part of this horror?
These movies were crafted in a way that was believable and made you wonder if there are actually places that fiends with money could go to do these horrible things to mankind. That thought terrifies me.
Why did I watch these shows to the end…..I wish I could take back time and purge the images out of my head. Is there a dark side in each of us that allows us to get sucked into such films? Hostel, Part 1 or Part 11 should never even been shown on TV for the chance a young child or a crazed person might happen onto these movies. These films have been banned in Germany…..the movies should never be shown anywhere; both are sadistic and unsuitable.
I am saddened that the first one was ever made, but I am horrified it got enough audience for a sequel. In my research I found a Hostel Part 111 was produced. I will not watch it if it comes on TV. My heart and stomach could not take another walk on the dark side of mankind these films flaunted.
