Located at SW Morrison and 10th near Pioneer Square, the sign for Habibi advertising both vegetarian and vegan options has always caught my attention. I finally stopped in and so glad that I did.
The dining space is elegant, contemporary and comfortable with traditional music playing in the background urging my hips to belly dance. The gorgeous bar with exposed brick and modern mood lighting boasts an all-day happy hour. The restaurant front does face the Max line, so some may be annoyed by the noise, but adds to the “downtown” feel.
Since I opted for take-out, I can’t comment on the table service, but the staff who handled my order were super friendly. The menu is well labeled designating vegan and vegetarian options.
The Vegan Mezza includes falafel, humus, tabouli, tahini, garbonzo beans, majadra and fresh homemade pita bread. My favorite was the majadra, brown lentils and rice with sautéed onions and spices, absolutely amazing and flavorful. The tabouli was so light and fresh, the best I’ve had in a long while. The garbonzo beans lacked flavor, but the falafel more than made up for it. And for take-out, I was impressed with the amount of food, including two large steaming pitas. My only complaint was the price was a bit high for lunch and it came with only one falafel.
Habibi: a beautiful space with plenty of delicious Mediterranean options for both vegans and vegetarians.
