“They’re a GREAT Old War, which is a true compliment.”
—Ryan Miller, GUSTER
For those lucky peeps who attended last night’s sold-out show at the Fillmore in San Francisco, it’s evident that alt-rockers GUSTER satisfied the proverbial rock belly of the many die-hard fans who jammed packed the illustrious venue. From stylishly ripping through hit song after hit song, to shooting hip-happy waves of GUSTER love and humor across the eager and diverse crowd of hippies, hipsters, heartfelt fans and high-spirited homies, GUSTER was surely a great sight to see. But —
It seems, for many at least, the whopping surprise of the evening was the opening band, GOOD OLD WAR, a vivacious and artistically raw indie group hailing from the earnest streets of Philadelphia, and their performance last night certainly projected gobs of that warm brotherly love we all know much about. The trio — Keith Goodwin (vocals, keys), Dan Schwartz (vocals, guitar) and maniac genius Tim Arnold (vocals, drums) — offered up a sizeable taste of music that pulsated a life energy surely to stay in the craniums and souls of those fortunate enough to hear their melodic tunes. Their music speaks to literary people, spiritual people, well-grounded people, yearning people, contemplative people, and of course tons more.
For those of you looking for a new band to brag about, or perhaps just one to capture your musical fancy, you must check out GOOD OLD WAR, our fellow brothers from Philly with a style of indie rock that’s certain to please. And once you do give their music a listen, you’ll know exactly what I'm talkin’ about.
