PvE in Guild Wars 2 is very interesting. There are events that happen over and over again all over the place. Sometimes when an event is over, it leads to a chain of events, that players can follow and join in on. [Guild Wars 2 main page]
Anybody can join in and work together on events, and the more people in the area, the harder the events get. This system encourages players to work together, and sometimes when doing events, before you realize it, you might have five other players backing you up.
Also it’s possible to dodge abilities in PvE. Rolling and walking in certain patterns is nice for dodging attacks, especially melee ones. With ranged weapons it’s sometimes possible to kill a melee NPC without even getting hit once.
Again, the events are interesting. In some areas, if you lose the event, an entire camp may disappear. Once it does, an event will spawn a few minutes later somewhere else, which leads down a chain of events, which slowly brings the camp back into existence.
Bosses are fun to fight too, especially considering they scale based on the number of players too. If there are 20 players in an area, the boss may be up to 20 times harder.
There are environmental PvE elements that are fun too. In some areas there may be jumping challenges, where rocks are floating in the sky and players must jump from rock to rock in order to access a secret dungeon. This dungeon may have one time pick up treasure chests, or special pets to tame, sometimes even more.
With all of these elements and more, it’s easy to see why Guild Wars 2 is getting credited with such wonderful PvE. This system makes it seem like every time a player enters an area, they’re experiencing it for the first time all over again.
Overall Guild Wars 2 deserves a 5 out of 5 for PvE, in that in brings the MMORPG genre back to life with its stunning PvE environment.
Making for one of the most exciting PvE related games of 2012, Guild Wars 2 will stand out as one of the best MMORPG’s of this current time. This game is absolutely wonderful, a must buy for any hardcore MMORPG fan.
