Everyone goes to happy hour to enjoy the libations, but good food with a happy hour discount is a major bonus. At many of the good happy hour locations the food is a secondary concern, and some establishments don't offer a happy hour deal on food at all. Polaris Grill does it up right with some really tasty half price appetizers.
The menu offers a selection of appetizers that are not the typical "bar food" variety. All offer generous portions and taste great. The Ahi Tuna and the Maryland Crabcakes really stand out, but the Louisiana Gulf Shrimp is the hands down winner.
Happy hour runs from 4-7, Monday through Friday, and in addition to half price appetizers they offer $1 off drafts and house wine. They have a pretty decent offering of craft beers on tap, and it is one of very few places in town that serve Hosters Gold Top on tap (major kudos).
The bartenders are attentive and friendly, the bar provides adequate seating for a decent sized happy hour crowd, and it is conveniently located right off the I-71/Polaris interchange.
