Gravity, a new film by Alfonso Cuarón is getting a lot of positive attention. The film only features two actors, but they are big hitters, Sandra Bullock and George Clooney. The basic plot is that a medical engineer and an Astronaut get stranded out in space. You can watch their plight in IMax, 3D or 2D.
Visually this movie is breathtaking! It really makes you feel like you are not sitting in the theater, but experiencing their world with them. (Though if you have a weak stomach be warned.) If nothing else, the design and graphic accomplishments of this film are many. It's technically fantastic and emotionally stirring.
Additionally, the sound design and editing are unique and well done. The film is being met with much praise from critics and the public. It is intense, emotional, and beautiful and will take you away from Earth for a little while.
The film is rather short, only about 91 minutes, so if it isn’t your cup of tea you don’t have to sit there for too long. It certainly doesn’t drag on, it’s short and action packed, making it feel much less than 91 minutes.
On Rotten Tomatoes it's received a 98% by critics and 89% by the public.
The writing and acting are also solid. I found myself completely enthralled by the drama and action and forgetting I was sitting in a crowded theater. To find out when and where Gravity is playing, click here: http://www.fandango.com/
