Putting out two nice albums in one year is a true testament to the excellence of the work of Brooklyn emcee Talib Kweli. First was Prisoner Of Conscious, a gushing fountain of fresh rhymes and imagination, and then Gravitas, a more serious wisdom fest that is no less grand. Talib Kweli brings us down to earth and reviews empowering lessons in his sixth solo LP (not counting collaborative albums). He discusses corruption and contradiction in the commercial hip hop world, pays dues to the game's legends, discredits the Illuminati theory, champions love and art, and takes us outside of the box. The beats are low key but capture that trademark, soulful sound of Talib. The album is a nice treat and is sure to expand minds and spread the truth.
