Constructed on the former site of Playa’s original nudist beach, the family-friendly, all-inclusive, 287-room Gran Porto Real Playa del Carmen was the first large-scale hotel built on the town’s main tourist strip rather than in the Playacar resort development to the south of the ferry dock.
The hotel has Italian and Mediterranean décor and overlooks a waveless cove at the southern end of Playa’s central beach. There are five restaurants, four bars, a nice pool, a car rental desk, a day spa, and a kids’ club. The Gran Porto Real is also one of the very few hotels with a view of the sunset over the ocean. Perfect for guests that like the full range of services offered by a large-scale resort but want to be in the middle of the Playa del Carmen bustle rather than tucked away in Playacar or further out in the Riviera Maya.
