Goon - I hope it works

Goon looks to be a feature length 'Happy Gilmore' fight with an Evan Goldberg (co-writer) touch.  We all have to admit that we enjoyed 'Superbad' and some of us loved 'Pineapple Express', so I'm sure we'll all be willing to give this a shot.  Focusing around an outcasted son who doesn't live up to his family's expectations, Doug Glatt (Sean William-Scott) ends up on a semi-pro hockey team.  'Goon' looks to be either a violent comedy laugh fest, but could prove to be as painful as the beatings administered by the stiff-meister.  Jay Baruchel (actor/co-writer), who plays Doug's friend Pat, most always proves to be an awkward delight to watch on screen.  The fact that he refers to Sean's character as a "Hebrew Dolph Lundgren" made me laugh out loud while I was alone.

As for the rating of the trailer, and seeing the cast including the hilarious Eugene Levy as Dr. Glatt and the great Liev Schreiber as a Canadian sport bad boy, I'm holding my thumb slightly shy of a 90 degree angle in hopes that after I see 'Goon', I can throw two thumbs to the sky.
