Talk about adults acting like children! When two sets of parents get together to discuss a playground transgression between their two boys, it becomes a test of wills, values, and ultimate chaos. The "God of Carnage" playing now at the Citadel Theatre in Lake Forest is a great night of theater, depicting the darker side of the human condition and the "child" in all of us. Artfully performed by a cast of four, Ellen Cribbs, Martin Hughes, Susan Steinmeyer and Michael Stock play off each other beautifully as they all go through their own sense of rejection and humiliation. This cutting-edge comedy will have you both laughing and crying at the same time, as you re-live the acts of your own children as well as recognize your own frailties.
God of Carnage was the winner of the 2009 Lawrence Olivier and Tony Awards for best new play and Citadel does an outstanding job of interpreting Yasmina Reza's biting words. The play runs through March 10 at Citadel Theatre, 300 S. Waukegan Road in Lake Forest. Thursday - Saturday at 8 p.m and Sundays at 3:00 p.m. Special Wednesday matinees on February 20 and March 6 at 1 p.m.
