Get your kids in the kitchen with Montessori 'Learn to Cook' products (Video)

Most kids love to cook, but it’s sometimes hard to find simple, safe chores for them amidst all the steamy water, hot oils and heavy pans that are a part of most meals. I may have the perfect solution in the Cook It in a Cup Cookbook and Silicone Cup set made by Montessori. This set, which has been given a “Parents’ Choice Award”, may also get your child to try different foods, because it’s definitely more fun to eat it if you helped create it.

The Cook It in a Cup! set comes with an adorable 64 page wipe-clean cookbook and six brightly colored silicone cups. The cups are freezer, oven, microwave and dishwasher safe, making them simple to use and easy to clean.

The cookbook isn’t all about junk food either, unlike some kids’ cookbooks. It is full of really healthy meals that your kids can delight in making themselves, with recipes like frittatas, quiche, meat loaf, fish and roasted broccoli.

I tried the set out with my granddaughter Grace and she loved it. We made pasta in a cup , which turned out delicious enough to feed the entire family. The pride she felt in having created dinner almost on her own was apparent in her proud smile as she presented dinner to everyone.

Check out the "For Small Hands" website for all kinds of creative cooking products for your kids. And remember, cooking with your child is not only quality time spent with them, but it also teaches lessons like math and following directions, as well as giving them pride in doing things all by themselves.
