Gear Review: take your camera anywhere with the Wrist Shot

Have you ever been hiking to a climb and you see something just incredibly amazing that you have to take a picture of? So where’s your camera? Of course it’d be in the top compartment of your backpack, so you have to take it off your shoulders and unpack it among all your carabiners and cordlette jammed in there. What if there was a more convenient way of getting your camera out without going through hassle? The Wrist Shot by Golden Hour will provide you with this great convenience.

The Wrist Shot is a handy wrist band that you can attach your camera to and capture all those beautiful nature and action shots without the hassle of trying to find it in your pack or purse. The Wrist Shot was originally developed to take waterproof cameras surfing in major waves. The patent pending design functions in wet, dry, hot and cold conditions and easily attaches to your camera with the standard tri-pod socket located on the bottom of the camera. There are no other parts or modifications required.

While approaching a climb in Moab, Utah, the Wrist Shot was used instead of placing my camera in the backpack. Coming from someone who is an avid picture taker, it was nice to have easy access to the camera. The views were gorgeous on the red sandstone especially when the sun was hitting certain areas while others were shaded. It was also convenient when taking pictures of the climbers while climbing along the Ice Cream Parlor wall.

If you’re not climbing a crack or a wall that requires you to use wrist jamming, half body, or any type of jamming, the Wrist Shot is great to have on your climb to take pictures from above the ground. Take a rest mid-climb and snap a shot of yourself with your belayer in the background to give viewers a sense of how high you are.

The Wrist Shot will allow you to be in on all the action and take photos on the spot without rummaging through your belongings or unpacking your gear. It’ll function in the most extreme conditions and keep your camera safely attached to your wrist so you don’t have to worry about dropping it.
