sport science™ displayed some stylish and comfortable looking outdoor clothing at the Salt Lake Outdoor Retailer Winter Market tradeshow this past January. They highlighted their holiday tie dye shirts; the Outdoor People graphics re-release which featured graphics that were illustrated in the 70s that pays homage to the outdoors; and their “Give a Shirt, Get a Shirt”. Anyone that brought an old running, hiking, biking, climbing, or other shirt to donate walked away with a free sport science™ shirt. All donations went to the Air Foundation.
It all started back in 2005 when sport science™ smarter performance™ was launched. They wanted to provide products that fused technical performance, comfort and versatility for the “fun-having, sport-playing, running, walking, hiking, commuting, climbing, training, traveling, going, doing active people of the world.” Simplicity is what sport science™ portrays in the design of their clothing as well as non-super tight-fitting performance apparel.
The way the smarter performance™ works in the performance apparel of sport science™ is through a few different factors. The apparel hydrates your insides, not your outsides. It is engineered to keep you cooler when it’s hot and warmer when it’s cold. The clothing is made for you to be comfortable in which means no chaffing and abrasion. It is wrinkle free, machine washable and treated with FreshGuard® to reduce odor buildup in the fabric.
In testing sport science™ apparel, it was found to be everything their philosophy states about it. The women’s long sleeve stretch top was incredibly comfortable and definitely helped keep the warmth in while out in crazy winds and snow during snow kiting up at Strawberry Reservoir in Utah. After being picked up off the ground several times during a demonstration of snow kiting as well as many drops back into the snow, I stayed warm and cozy.
The performance basic tops had a nice, soft feel. They were worn while running a 5K marathon, climbing at the gym, hiking in Moab, and mountain biking. The tees never interfered with the climbing gear while climbing, and it was just constant comfort in every activity outdoors. There was no restriction in movement, no bunching up in the climbing harness or when there was a backpack on my back.
The folks at sport science™ know what’s going on when it comes to performance apparel. It is really great for “whatevering” as they put it. The versatile, easy care, feel-good apparel is absolutely recommended for your outdoor fun.
