Gatecrash 'Boros Battalion' intro pack deck list and review

"Boros Battalion" is one of five new "Gatecrash" intro packs revealed today Jan. 22, 2013 on www.DailyMTG.com. Like the "Return to Ravnica" intro packs ("Rakdos Raid," "Izzet Ingenuity," "Azorius Advance," "Golgari Growth," and "Selesnya Surge"), each of the new "Gatecrash" intro packs comes with a how to play insert, tip guide, and two unopened "Gatecrash" booster packs for an MSRP of $14.99.

In "Boros Battalion"

The Boros Legion fights as one fierce army, joined together under a banner of righteousness. Take command of the "Boros Battalion" deck to construct an ever-growing army and march it right over your enemy’s defenses.

"Boros Battalion" comes with two rares: A premium foil Foundry Champion and Firemane Avenger.

Does overwhelming your opponent with a fast and furious swarm of creatures sounds like fun? Then you'll want to join the Boros Legion. In "Boros Battalion" you'll strike hard and fast thanks to Battalion, a new mechanic from "Gatecrash" that produces an effect whenever a creature that has Battalion and two or more other creatures attack.

Each of the creatures plays an integral role in the deck. For instance, Firefist Striker is an MVP Battalion creature because it can prevent your opponent's biggest guy from blocking. Sunhome Guildmage can produce a small horde of creatures and pump them up. One of the biggest weaknesses of "Boros Battalion" is that there's a lack of traditional removal spells. You'll have to rely on a few combat tricks to ensure your attackers get through unscathed.

Like the other intro packs, "Boros Battalion" features several suboptimal cards so new players to the game can get that "aha!" moment after they opened the two included booster packs and find better cards than in the deck. The included insert suggests adding Thundermaw Hellkite and Increasing Devotion. You may also want to throw in a few Boros Charm, several Frontline Medic, and perhaps an Aurelia's Fury or two.

If the "Boros Battalion" intro pack doesn't mesh with your play style, then one of the other four "Gatecrash" intro packs might:
