Garnachas - Mexican Street Food

Only open for a few weeks at the time of this writing, Garnachas is one of those hidden gems that is worth the hunt to find it. Located at the corner of Valley View & Sirius, park in the back and walk around to the entrance on the end of the building.

Inside, you will find an ordering area that boasts a modest menu of Mexican Street Food that is fresh, full of flavor, and will have you coming back for more. Garnachas claims great culture and great food, and they live up to those claims. The menu consists of the Garnacha Bowl, the Garnacha Taco Plate, the Garnacha Combo Plate, Garnacha Nachos, Garnacha Fries, as well as Tacos, Burritos, Tortas, Mulas, and Quesadillas.

To order, walk up to the counter and choose your entrée, and then choose your meat. Choose from Puerco Al Pastor (Marinated Pork – it is hot – ask for a taste!), Carne Asada (Steak prepared fresh), Pollo Asado (Grilled Chicken), Lengua (Beef Tongue), Carnitas (Braised Pork), and Barbacoa (Braised Beef). Continue down the assembly line, adding your choice of cheese, sour cream, guacamole (extra charge), lettuce, tomatoes, Pico, Salsa, rice, black or refried beans, etc. until your creation is just the way you like it. The Taco Plate comes with 3 tacos, rice & beans. If you order the bowl, be sure to ask for some corn tortillas which come on the side.

After you order, you can select your beverage and then have a seat in the large dining room. In the dining room, there is a complimentary chips and salsa bar with a nice selection of salsas and vegetables. The service is fast and friendly, the atmosphere is comfortable, and the prices are reasonable. The food is delicious, and you will soon see why this will be a place you will want to visit frequently. The dining room is a good place to take a group and is family friendly.

Their current special is $1.00 tacos every night from 8pm – 10pm. Garnachas is also connected to the Chi’cha’ron Sports Cantina which is open 24 hours for gaming and spirits. Happy Hour is from 5 – 7pm daily and also from Sunday – Wednesday 10pm – 1am with drafts, bottles and well drinks half off. They offer Lady’s Night Sunday – Wednesday with 2 for 1 drinks from 9pm – 1am and Karaoke on Thursdays. On Fridays and Saturdays they feature DJ Luis.

While we have not yet tried the Sports Cantina, the food at Garnachas is well worth stopping in to give it a try. Hope you enjoy it!
