I probably can't call myself a “Game of Thrones” geek. I lost track of all the fleeting characters and seemingly endless body count long ago. I haven't read the books, though I might sometime. I'm one of those for whom everything that happens on HBO is a surprise. Take Joffrey's death recently as a great example of that.

If you're among those who needs a refresher curse, the season three “Game of Thrones” DVDs are like textbooks. The set, of course, contains all the episodes, but there's plenty of additional material for GOT freaks.

For one, there's the optional episode guide, which you can run or not. This handy little feature brings up details of characters major or minor, locations and history to prevent viewers from losing track.

The set also has a number of extras, including the standard guest commentary. The commentary with Diana Rigg was especially interesting. (She gives a nice hint about the demise of Joffrey. Remember that these DVDs were in the hands of consumers before the new season began.)

For viewers who can't get enough of GOT, the DVDs supply enough to keep one occupied between the new episodes. And with all the weekly turmoil, even all these resources may not be enough.

You can read the books and get ahead of the game or watch the outstanding acting, character development and continual surprises on the DVDs. It's your choice. All we'll say is we're glad to have the DVDs.
