For months all anyone has heard from children’s mouths are songs and lines from the animated Disney hit, Frozen. After earning an Academy Award last month for Best Animated Feature film, Frozen is now available on blu-ray and DVD. Warning: children will be playing this on repeat for the next few months, and possibly singing all the songs in sheer excitement for this youthful film.

The film is unlike any other Disney hit. It focuses on family, the special bond that two sisters share, the strength and power that everyday women encompass as well as diversity and how people react to others being different.

Frozen stars funny girl, Kristen Bell as Anna and Broadway superstar Idina Menzel (not to be confused with Adele Dazeem) as Elsa. Their characters are fun, strong and admirable. Who knew Kristen Bell could sing?! She’s great and her character is so realistic and likeable, and Menzel is as always a true powerhouse, and her character is captivating throughout the entire film. Josh Gad lends his voice to the character of Olaf, the lovable goofy snowman that the two sisters can really count on.

Frozen centers on two sisters (Anna and Elsa), who from very young share happy loving times together, until Elsa’s mysterious powers accidentally hurts her little sister Anna. After the accident her parents lock her up in a room and forbid her to use her powers. As years pass, Elsa grows older and her powers grow stronger and more aggressive and one evening, everything goes wrong, thus begins the start of the “frozen” summer.

Frozen is the type of film the whole family can enjoy; it is a beautiful story with wonderful, catchy songs. The film is highly recommended to anyone who enjoys Disney animated classics, stories filled with love, heart and the empowering messages of the strength that lies within oneself.
