The State Fair of Texas kicked off Friday afternoon, with much of the attention on Big Tex. Most of the fair goers had mixed emotions on the new look.
A few fair goers that we spoke with said he looked young, some said he looked old, much darker and one went on to say he looks ugly.
Saturday rain began to fall a little after noon and after the rain stopped it couldn't be better day to go to the fair.
Sue Gooding Public Relations Director said that the fair has not seen this many people in attendance in the opening day, nor opening weekend since the fairs inception over 100 years ago.
Fair officials also stated that much of the attendance was do to Big Tex's return, and that they will not release the name behind the voice, saying they want the attention focused on the new Big Tex.
If you're in to deep fried food, you're in for a treat. There is the Deep Fried Cuban Roll that won first prize and then the Fernie's Deep Fried King Ranch Casserole which one fourth. Through out the fair grounds you could here people saying you have got to try Fernie's Deep Fried Casserole.
