Free crochet and knitting app: Review of Crochet Guides and Tutorials

Want to find free crochet and knitting patterns and instructions? They are as close as your smart phone. Crochet Guides and Tutorials assembles videos from internet sites like You Tube into a collection for you to search through and enjoy. The app works on most Android phones. It runs on my older LG Optimus.

You can run the app in browser mode or run it in You Tube. Although most of the videos had good information, I found the quality of the video to be lacking. Most videos were pixilated and distorted. This made seeing the actual crochet stitching difficult. It was not my phone causing the quality issues—I checked the video content by looking at random You Tube videos and none were a choppy as the ones in the crochet video. Maybe it would work better on a newer phone.

The app is available through the Google Play store. I could not find it when I searched the store on my phone, but you can get it using this download link. The link will bring you to the Google Play Store where you can download the app directly from Google.

I thought that this would be a handy app and that is why I downloaded it. I am willing to try almost any app once—expecially if it is free. If the video quality is better on newer devices, I would recommend it. However, with my older phone, the video quality was lacking so I will give it a neutral rating until I see some improvement in the quality of the videos.
