According to the Freddy's website, Freddy’s frozen custard is such a signature part of the menu that it’s included in the name, but it all started with burgers back in the 1950’s. These were the kind of burgers enjoyed by Freddy Simon from Wichita, Kansas, and his sons teamed up with a restaurateur to create the Freddy's steakburger, which was inspired by the 50's style burger. They make it fresh, cooked to order, while keeping an emphasis on quality. Once you take a look at their website, you will become intrigued with the history that inspired the restaurant and if you love a great steakburger and frozen custard, you will want to give it a try.
Although the restaurant is part of a chain, the 50's diner feel creates a fun atmosphere for young and old alike. The staff is very friendly and the service was outstanding. The restaurant was packed - and it was easy to see why! The steakburgers are cooked thin so that they have a slightly crispy edge while retaining their juicy flavor. The fries are what you would call "skinny" fries and are excellent. You can also order cheese fries or chili cheese fries. Other favorites are the onion rings and the chili bowl. If you would rather have a hot dog, you can choose plain (all beef) or a Chicago Dog or Chili Cheese Dog. If you are in the mood for chicken, there is a Grilled Chicken Breast Sandwich. Freddy's prices are very reasonable and combos are available.
The Freddy's Original Double consists of two steakburger patties on a butter toasted bun with pickles, onions, and mustard - but you can get any condiments of your choice. The California Style Steakburger has Freddy's Sauce (like thousand island), cheese, sliced onion, lettuce and tomato. The steakburgers are available as single, double or triple burgers. There is also an Original Double Patty Melt with swiss cheese and grilled onions on rye.
Be sure to save room for dessert! The custard is available in vanilla or chocolate and is thick and creamy - with your choice of toppings. You can get your custard as a Sundae - with the toppings on top, or as "concrete" with the toppings mixed in.
Specialties include their Signature Turtle: Vanilla custard, hot fudge, hot caramel, toasted pecans, whipped cream and a cherry. The Hawaiian Delight consists of Vanilla custard, pineapple, strawberry, coconut, macadamia nuts, whipped cream and a cherry. In the mood for chocolate? Try the Chocolate Brownie Delight: chocolate custard, hot fudge, brownie, whipped cream and a cherry - yum! Of course, if you like, you can just build a creation of your own from their huge list of toppings.

Freddy's received rave reviews from our group of 20. They were very accommodating to our large group and family friendly. Freddy's motto is true - with their fabulous Steakburgers and Custard, it is "The Taste that brings you back"!
