Foundry by General Cigar Company "Wells" Review

Foundry by General Cigar Company "Wells" - 6 X 50. Wrapper - Connecticut "H47" Pleno Sol (aged 8-10 years), Binder - Proprietary, Filler - Proprietary. Mild-Medium.

Initial taste - Cedar wood.

First third - Earthy woodiness and spice with some citrus notes emerging.

Second third - Earth, cedar, spice and citrus.

Last third - Continued Earthiness, cedar wood, spice and lemony citrus. Medium finish of cedar and spice.

Construction - Light brown, mottled wrapper with some medium sized veins and a sloppy looking cap.

Burn - The burn was crooked and also canoed. The ash was flaky in texture and light gray in color.

Draw - The draw was somewhat tight but not terrible. The smoke produced was adequate.

While this cigar had a good flavor profile and balance, the experience of smoking it was diminished with the burn, wrapper and draw issues that I experienced. I am also not a big fan of Connecticut wrapped cigars but having said that, the cigar did have a unique and enjoyable flavor profile with the Earthiness and citrus taste - no doubt a result of the five different tobaccos from four different countries that General Cigar Company states is in this blend. MSRP for this Toro size (Wells) is $7.95 which I think is a fair price point. I am going to give this one a cautious recommend based on the construction issues.
