Marty Walsh - The Total Plan

The music world has been blessed with so many great guitar players over the years including Jimi Hendrix, B.B. King, Eric Clapton, Joe Walsh, Ernie Isley, Hugh McCracken, Steve Cropper and so many, many others. Another one of those great guitar players is former Supertramp member Marty Walsh. His latest release is titled The Total Plan. It is an instrumental album that features some of the top musicians on the planet that have joined Mr. Walsh to make very memorable and great sounding music.

Besides playing with Supertramp, Marty Walsh has played on hit recordings for Neil Diamond, Dolly Parton, John Denver, Eddie Money, Kenny Rogers, Sheena Easton, Freddie Jackson and more. He is joined on this project with the likes of: John 'JR' Robinson, Billy Sherwood, Abraham Laboriel and Michael Ruff. There is not just guitars on this album, but piano has a prevalent part as well as the horn. These musicians have a close personal working relationship with Marty Walsh.

The disc includes ten tracks that are quite diverse. You can hear a little bit of country on the song Inside The Rain. There is a Larry Carlton element to the song Coast to Coast. Indeed Larry Carlton was an early influence on a young Marty Walsh. Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton were influences as well. Other songs of note are: Groove Mechanics which is a funky tune fueled by saxophone, piano and guitar. The Road, Back Pages and Now is the Time are also terrific songs.

This is a job well done by Marty Walsh and all the musicians on this project. It definitely all came together to make this album enjoyable and fresh. This has been a long time coming for Marty Walsh. It has as they, been worth the wait. If you want to get more information about this album and more, log on to the website:
