Food Hedz is a small, unassuming, yet very well-known locals' spot tucked away in a strip mall near a Walmart in Frisco, Colorado. Don't let the tiny and unpretentious sign out front welcoming those in the know fool you. This little hole in the wall packs a punch in the taste buds without leaving a gaping hole in your wallet. Chef and Owner David Welch, along with his small staff, conjure up classic culinary happening in their small yet well organized kitchen. Chef David was the previous Executive Chef of the Keystone Ranch and started his career learning from "old school" masters of French Cuisine.
Chef David's knowledge and experience definitely shows in everything he does from organizing his staff and restaurant, to quickly and effortlessly slinging out some of the best cuisine in town all from scratch using classic techniques. The menu offers an eclectic mix of classic french cooking techniques paired with a fusion of Colorado cuisine with that of many other regions around the world. Such diverse pairings include infusing curry into their Chicken Salad dish for an added punch and placing menu items like Indian Tandoori Chicken next to Pork Loin with cornbread and red and green chile sauces.
Surprisingly, experiencing this delectable cuisine will not hurt your budget too bad with lunches starting at just $10.75. Dinner fetches a slightly higher price at around $32 and up per entree which comes with a choice of soup or salad and house-made bread. Entrees are well worth the price as the chef uses only the freshest ingredients and patronizes local vendors whenever possible.
Try the Sea Scallops for dinner or the Duck Breast. The Strip Loin Medallions are unbelievably tender, and the Chicken Salad dish for lunch has been a local classic for years! They offer an affordable children's menu also and have a few made-from-scratch dessert items available. Look for Food Hedz in the Walmart Shopping Center in Frisco next time you are in the High Country!
