Foghat rocks the South Shore Room at Harrah's Tahoe (Photos)

On Saturday January 26, 2013 legendary rock & roll band Foghat rocked the South Shore Room at Harrah's Tahoe.

Foghat are a British rock band that had their peak success in the mid-to-late-1970s. Their style can be described as "blues-rock", or boogie-rock, dominated by electric and electric slide guitar. The band has achieved 8 gold records, one platinum and one double platinum records. The band had far more success in the United States than home in Britain.

The band initially featured Dave Peverett ("Lonesome Dave") on guitar and vocals, Tony Stevens on bass, and Roger Earl on drums when they left Savoy Brown in 1970. Rod Price on guitar/slide guitar joined after he left the Black Cat Bones in December 1970. The new lineup was named "Foghat" in January 1971. (wiki)

Foghat released their latest album "Last Train Home" in 2010.

Although Foghat has had many line-up changes over the years, the current line-up, which includes, founding member, Roger Earl - (drums), Charlie Huhn - (rhythm guitar, vocals), Bryan Bassett - (lead guitar) and Craig MacGregor on (bass) still know how to wow the audience, especially the ladies.

The set lasted 90 minutes and went just like this,

"Road Fever", "Home In My Hand", "My Babe", "Drivin' Wheel", "Stone Blue" "Chateau Lafitte", Fool For The City", "I Just Want To Make Love To You", "Sweet Home Chicago", and "Slow Ride".

Attendance for this show was pretty good, not quite sold out, but very full. Most people were singing and dancing to just about every song. After around the fifth song, lots of the die hard fans (mostly the ladies) rushed the stage and stayed there the rest of the show with no complaints from anyone. At the end of the show, one of the female fans made it onto the stage to give drummer Roger Earl a hug, she also got a drum stick before getting escorted off the stage. A good time was had by all.

After the show, all of the band came out for a meet & greet where they shook hands and signed autographs for all the fans. Even the female fan that jumped on the stage got her drum stick signed by Earl, one guy even got a beer bottle signed.

What else can you say about the South Shore Room inside Harrah's Tahoe. The best sound and lighting in the area and most importantly, not a bad seat in the house. Visit their web-site at (http://www.harrahslaketahoe.com/casinos/harrahs-lake-tahoe/casino-misc/south-shore-room-detail.html) to see who plays next.

This examiner would like to give a special "thank you" to tour manger Jim Mears for all his help and kindness. If only all tour mangers were as cool, it would be a perfect world.

As with all this examiners reviews and feature stories, "The Photos Are What It's All About", so check out the photo slideshow and enjoy the show.
