The Flying Fish Café is the perfect combination of modern class and old world whimsy, Disney style. The Flying Fish is located at Disney’s Boardwalk Resort near Lake Buena Vista, Fl. (about 20 miles from downtown Orlando). Although the restaurant specializes in gourmet seafood, there are plenty of options to please everyone.
The boardwalk atmosphere is both romantic and nostalgic with its shops, games, and street performers. The restaurant is located on the corner just beyond the main entrance to the resort. It is the perfect place for a romantic dinner or out for drinks.
The restaurant boasts an extensive wine list as well as featured cocktails, and as our server said, “you want it, we’ll make it.” There is nothing that quite matches Disney service. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable, attentive without being overbearing.
The food at the Flying Fish is spectacular. Everything I ate was delicious and different, from the squash blossoms to the PB & J Crème Brûlée. Entrees average about $40 per plate, but they are worth every penny. Desserts and appetizers average around $9 or $10.
With the high-flying antiqued planes and hot air balloons above to the blue and gold tones all around, the atmosphere is relaxing, yet playful. It is the perfect place to experience Disney quality without having to buy an expensive park ticket.
I do, however, recommend making a reservation. The Flying Fish is a popular place for guests of the Epcot-area resorts as well as locals and others visiting the Orlando area.
