Finding yourself hungry in East Texas? Out traveling and realize you forgot to get your regular ration of seafood? No problem! In a recent trip to Beaumont I paid a visit to Floyd's Cajun Seafood and Texas Steakhouse. With a name containing two of my favorite food groups, how could I not?
Walking in you immediately pick up on the smells of the kitchen and you'll find your hunger escalating in anticipation. Luckily for you, you will not be disappointed by taste nor walk away still hungry and suffering from small portion-itis. With a menu with almost too much to choose from, I finally decided on the delicious sounding "Bub's Shrimp Platter", $22.99.
The Bub's Shrimp Platter is 4 Fried Shrimp, 4 Grilled Shrimp, 2 Shrimp En Brochette, 2 Stuffed Shrimp and came with 2 sides. I chose the Dirty Rice and Fried Okra. To accompany this hefty meal I also had to try a Cup of their Chicken & Sausage Gumbo, $5.99. Let me tell you, this was some great food! There was not a thing I ordered that did not taste great and if pressed hard to choose a favorite, I would have to say the grilled shrimp took the prize.
I had three friends with me for dinner that evening and we all unanimously agreed this place had to be added to the "Must stop" list for every visit back to Beaumont. We were so impressed by everything we agreed to go right back the following day for lunch.
For the following day's lunch I chose Fried Catfish with a side of Red Beans & Rice for $9.99. The catfish was fried perfectly and the red beans and rice were equally good.
What else can I tell you about this place... well, if you never go and try it, you will be missing out!
