Last night, I decided to make some semi-homemade bread to ultimately dip in a little olive oil and Sicilian spices. I had purchased a box of Fleischmann's Simply Homemade Country White Bread Mix a while back and decided to whip it up. And "simple" it was! I heated up a cup of warm water and added the yeast packet and sugar packet, allowing it to "bloom" for several minutes. Then I stirred in the bread mix and voila! Instead bread dough!
It needed to rest for 30 minutes in order to expand. After the time was up, I placed the bread in a pre-heated 400 degree oven for 25 minutes. It came out looking beautiful. Crusty on the outside and soft on the inside. It did have a slightly sweet taste to it that was not appealing with the olive oil and spices, but it would definitely make a good bread for French Toast or Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches. A little Honey Butter would also be delicious with this bread.
Fleischmann's makes several flavors of bread, including and Italian Herb that I would be interested in trying.
