While it will always be a mystery to how the Jersey Shore series ever became popular, but that doesn’t change the fact that they are now a permanent part of pop culture. Their influence has already flooded over into a few films but the latest one, Jersey Shore Massacre is not only bringing the ideal to the horror genre it is being produced by one of the originals from the series Jenni “JWOWW” Farley, but does it deliver the expected slasher fun or will it not be worthy of pumping your fists to?
Jersey Shore Massacre follows a group of New Jersey girls who leave for a weekend of sun and sin down the shore, but are blindsided by a bizarre twist of events that catapult them from the sands of Seaside Heights to a secluded house deep in the New Jersey Pine Barrens. As day turns to night, the group converges at a Seaside bar where they are soon ejected with five fist-pumping delinquents who incessantly disrespect all with their reprehensible behavior. With nowhere else to go, the group retreats to the house in the Pine Barrens for a night of carnal delights. Blinded by their selfish pursuits, the group remains unaware that their long outstanding debt to humanity is about to be settled - with their lives. When a movie has a title like this you pretty much know what you are walking into. This film is pretty over the top silly and it is meant to be. The entire cast are extremely annoying, whether they are meant to be or not, but make you eager to see each of them meet their demise. While most of the cast are relative unknowns there are cameos from fan favorites including Ron Jeremy, Howard Stern alumni Sal Governale, Richard Christy and Bigfoot as well as porn star Nikki Delano. Sadly all of these people only appear for a short time with the exception of Bigfoot who has an extended role so their fun is short lived. Thankfully there is plenty of over the top blood spewing kills that are well handled and a lot of fun.
Anyone expecting more than what this film delivers is just silly, but if you can go in watching this for the over the top cheesy fun that it is then you might just have a good time. For those Stern fans there is plenty of fun besides the cameos of the crew the special features include a music video from Sal aka Italian Ice, unmedicated voice mails from Bigfoot and more. Whether you loved the show or not there is no doubt you will have a fun time watching them get slaughtered when Jersey Shore Massacre hits Blu-ray and DVD on August 26th.
