The Fish Tale Brew Pub seems to embody the very spirit of Olympia. It's got excellent organic beers and ciders, great, local food, caters to a crowd as diverse as the people who live here, and is hip without trying to be. It's the go-to spot for craft brews and local seafood, and was even featured on an episode of the Food Network's Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.
The Fish Tale Brew Pub offers beers made by the Fish Tale Brewing Co., which is located across the street from the pub. They also offer a collection of other local craft brews and ciders. You may find yourself feeling overwhelmed by their selection. That's okay, they offer beer flights for only $5.46. You can choose from one of their pre-made flights or pick four beers to create your own. This is a great deal for folks who want to try more of what they have to offer but don't want to empty their bank accounts or rely on a cab to get home.
They offer two Happy Hours: 3-5 Monday-Friday and 9-11 Monday-Saturday. During Happy Hour, pints are only $3.46 and oyster shooters are only a dollar. Stop by on Tuesday night to participate in their Geeks Who Drink trivia event for a chance to win great prizes.
The food at Fish Tale may even be better than the beer. The fresh cut fries are great to share with friends. Try the clam chowder or one of their oyster burgers, served with bacon, melted brie, and an amazing jalapeno-cilantro sauce.
This is a great spot to come with family or friends. There are no televisions on the walls and the tables are open, which promotes conversation. The restaurant can get pretty crowded though, so if you are planning on coming in with a big group make sure to show up early. It can be pretty hard to find a table or enough chairs otherwise.
Fish Tale even has a seating area with couches and tables, which must be great for students. You can also find some board games and books in the seating area.
If you enjoy your drink, chances are you will be able to take home a growler or six-pack. Just let them know you want to add one to your tab.
