It's been open for a while now, and we'd been wanting to try it out. After an early evening of yoga with friends, we decided to give it a try. Because nothing sounds better after an hour of stretching and posing, than a big beefy burger. Or a milk shake, but that's another story,
Fortunately for us, and our momentary desire to be healthy eaters, the Grind also offers some pretty tasty salads.
Two in our party split the Roasted Chicken Wrap, with its oven roasted tomato pesto and fresh chèvre. Both said it was very good, wrapped in a spinach tortilla. They also shared a side order of the creamy macaroni and cheese, liking it so much they were almost licking the dish clean.
The table shared an order of the herbed fries, which were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, just as fries should be. It was also the perfect portion size for sharing.
My other dining companion had the Shredded Chicken Salad, wild arugula, grapes, roasted pine nuts and crispy grilled bread. It was a pretty big portion, but lived up to its $10 price.
I had the Grilled Asparagus Salad with goat cheese, marinated lemons (which were very good), and a citrus vinaigrette. I ordered it with chicken and when I got the eyebrow from my dining mates because I rarely order meat with my salad, the waiter paid attention when I explained myself. He brought the chicken on the side, instead of mixing it into my salad, something I really appreciated.
Since two of us were of age, I had a glass of Spanish red wine from the wine list that offered a nice selection of whites and reds. My (of age) companion ordered a Moscow Mule from the interesting cocktail list, which consisted of Russian Standard Vodka, Goslings Ginger Beer and fresh limejuice. It was presented in a very cool (cold, with ice) copper cup, which we all thought was unique.
For desert we shared an order of house made donuts with salted butterscotch and a Sonoran root beer float. Both were very yummy and the perfect way to end our healthy outing. In our opinion, anyway.
The bill came to just under $75, which was fair for the amount of food we'd ordered for four people. Making it even better though was the $15 Groupon I'd purchased giving me $30 off the total. Very nice. And the waiter told us about another service, Local Dines, where we could get more great offers, including one for The Grind.
Over all, this is a place we will try again, probably on a day when we've not just come from yoga. I really want to try out a couple of the burgers and something else from their fun cocktail menu.
