Filaro: 'Falling Up' (2013)

"Falling Up" by Filaro is an experimental little Indie Pop record.

Filaro lists one of his main influences as "The Beach Boys", which is pretty easy to hear when listening to "Falling Up". Thick vocal harmonies accent an off kilter production making for an upbeat and somewhat quirky sound.

The opening track entitled "Yesterday's Cup Pt. 1" is strictly vocals, with layers of harmony that sound somewhat haunting and eerie, like they're taken from a Tim Burton film.

Songs like "Opening Windows in May" opens by taking a break from synthetic production with an acoustic arrangement that provides a much welcome color to the album. The vocals on this piece sound very influenced by solo Roger Waters.

The constant synth basses can get kind of annoying to my ears, but aside from that this a very unique and genuinely enthralling album.
