Fat Head's Tasting Room has finally opened. It's been a long time coming and all inspections, licenses, permits, etc. were in place a mere two hours before the 4 PM opening on Friday, October 18, timed perfectly to coincide with the kick-off of Cleveland Beer Week. It seems to be in a bit of an out-of-the-way location in an industrial park on Sheldon Road in Middleburg Heights, but signs point the way to the end unit of 18741 Sheldon Road. The production brewery and bottling activities have been here for a year and half or so. With the opening of the tap room, you can now drink beer as fresh as it can get!
They have a limited menu of appetizers, pizza, and sandwiches to go with their tap beer selection. Last evening, the selection included their flagship Head Hunter IPA, which also is the theme of the tap room with the head hunter spears and pictures decorating the pub. Other selections included the Trail Head IPA which won a silver medal at the recent Great American Beer Festival, Spooky Tooth Imperial Pumpkin ale, Wango Tango Mango IPA, Bumbleberry Honey Blueberry Ale, Liquid Courage Barley Wine (brewed in collaboration with Jackie O's) , Shakedown Stout, and Holly Jolly Christmas Ale. They are all outstanding beers.
The closing times vary, but the tap room opens at 4 pm on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday and at noon on Saturday and Sunday. You can get beer to go in bottles or growlers, and there is a retail shop where you can get glasses, T-shirts, hats, and other Fat Head's gear. Check it out!
