Fan favorite episode 'Fionna and Cake' headlines new 'Adventure Time' DVD

"What time is it?"

It's time for another DVD compilation of the hit Cartoon Network animated series "Adventure Time" with Finn and his best friend Jake the dog having adventures in the land of Ooo. This new DVD, titled "Fionna and Cake," includes 16 mathematical episodes spanning the second through fourth season for about $19.

The headlining episode "Fionna and Cake" presents a gender-swapped interpretation of the ensemble cast of "Adventure Time" with the titular Fionna and her best friend Cake the cat. Guest starring Neil Patrick Harris as Prince Gumball, "Fionna and Cake" was a fan favorite episode filled with action and a positive message about accepting who you are. Fans clamored for more Fionna and Cake episodes, so Cartoon Network decided to air the second episode of them on February 18 to coincide with the "Fionna and Cake" DVD release on February 19.

As customary of Cartoon Network DVD compilations of their popular series, "Fionna and Cake" features a mix of memorable episodes like "What Was Missing" and "Lady and Peebles" and a few forgettable ones. This volume's mix of 11-minute episodes feels more carefully selected than its predecessor and provide plenty of humor, action, and character development. At least they finally have an episode featuring Flame Princess. The DVD also has a small bonus feature showing some of the Ooo characters appearing in the DVD.

So until Cartoon Network decides to release additional seasons of "Adventure Time" on DVD or release a condensed version featuring episodes that actually develop and advance what's happening in the land of Ooo, "Fionna and Cake" is enjoyable entertainment for "Adventure Time" fans.
