“Faith, Love and Fried Chicken” by Laura J Marshall is a sweet and mild novella about Jaycee, a girl who grew up in a small town of Twain, Georgia. She’s never fallen for the advances of Dash, a guy who’s been chasing so many girls that he has the knick name of “Hot Flash Dash”. Like many small town girls, she has a hunger for something more than just being a waitress at the local diner. When a friend invites her to New York, she toys with the idea of moving there for good.
This is the first installment of a four-part series. The next story will be about fall and Thanksgiving, and will be released in October. Winter and Spring are also planned. It seems these two characters have more to do.
The story is nicely written and pleasant to read. It would be a good book for a hospital waiting room, a short airplane flight, or a mom waiting for soccer practice to be over.
Sex level: just kissing
