Plot
Rush is the true story of the rivalry between two of the greatest auto racing champions the world has ever seen. The diversity of style between the handsome English racing “Playboy/Rock Star”, James Hunt (Chris Hemsworth) and his brilliant, methodical opponent, Niki Lauda (Daniel Brühl) will captivate you.
The film is set against the sexy and glamorous golden age of Formula 1 racing, Rush follows the two drivers as they push themselves to the breaking point of physical and psychological endurance, where there is no shortcut to victory and no margin for error.
Hunt is a brash young Briton with a tendency to vomit before every race, while the Austrian Lauda is a cool, calculating technical genius who relies on precision.
The movie chronicles the events that lead up to Niki Lauda’s horrific crash at the F1 race in Germany at the Nürburgring.
The Nürburgring race track has 185 turns and is difficult to drive in the best of weather. Lauda urges the F1 committee to cancel the race due to rain on the already dangerous track. The drivers out-vote him after Hunt convinces them that it was to Lauda’s advantage to cancel because he was already leading in the points.
RUSH lives up to its name. I highly recommend you see it.
