The Everki motto is 'Style That Works.' It will take only a cursory inspection of the new Everki Atlas backpack to confirm that they know what their business customers need and want in a well designed backpack. My first impression of the Atlas when I removed it from the box was WOW! After using the Atlas for a few weeks, my opinion is still WOW! If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would.
The Atlas is not only beautifully designed, it is made with the finest quality components and workmanship. The topstitching and other design details are flawlessly executed. No crooked panels or loose strings to be found anywhere on the Atlas. Designed for the busy executive on the go, the Atlas incorporates features that are not only attractive but functional as well.
This Checkpoint Friendly backpack is designed to accommodate laptops ranging from 13" to 17.3" in size but it doesn't stop there. While other backpacks are made for a single laptop, the Atlas includes 2 padded compartments so that you can also travel with an iPad, Kindle or tablet along with your full sized laptop. The larger pocket is adjustable with Velcro strips to size the space exactly for your laptop. Each of these pockets are lined with soft felt and have an adjustable top strap to hold your devices securely in place. The zipper opening for this large compartment opens fully to 180 degrees, allowing the Atlas to open completely and lay flat to quickly pass through airport security. In most cases your bags should go through the x-ray machine without the need to remove your computers from the backpack. If further inspection is required you can quickly and easily remove them without having to unpack everything else to get to them.
The Atlas's Trolley Handle Pass-Through Strap is another essential feature for any traveler. You have enough things to juggle as you run to catch your next flight. The Atlas lightens your load by slipping smoothly over a rolling luggage trolley handle to stack securely. The Pass-Through strap is concealed behind the lumbar pad where it is unnoticeable unless in use.
The Atlas Business Backpack does an excellent job of maximizing space and providing storage options with a variety of well-organized compartments and slots. The interior lining of the Atlas is a bright orange which is not only an attractive contrast to the black exterior, it also makes it easy to see the contents of all those compartments to quickly find the item you need.
Slip the Atlas on your back and you will notice right away that there is a Soft Lumbar Pad for extra comfort where you need it most. The shoulder straps are fully padded for your comfort and the 5-Point Balance Strap System enhances your comfort even more with its ergonomic design to evenly distribute the load. Instead of just 2 adjustable straps that you will find on most backpacks, there are also 2 slide buckles at each shoulder and another height adjustable strap across the chest for individual comfort.
If you are a regular traveler, you will really like the Quick-Access Newspaper and Magazine Pocket. This open pocket is designed to stash your newspaper or a magazine to read while you wait for your flight. No more fumbling to find your reading material in the bottom of your bag as other passengers squeeze past you to their seats.
It is clear that the experience of seasoned travelers contributed to the design of the Atlas which sets a pretty high standard for the use of space and organization. In addition to the roomy laptop and iPad compartment, there is another big storage compartment split in half by a hard divider where you can store papers, file folders, and even a jacket in case it turns chilly. A zippered pocket holds your mouse, flash drives and other peripherals and accessories.
That's a lot of space already and we're not done yet. There is another good sized pocket that opens to 8 additional compartments and a small zippered pocket for your business cards. Plenty of room for pens, pencils, a hard drive or 2, headphones, adapters and other accessories you might need.
One more pocket on the front of the Atlas would accommodate your toiletries, a pair of socks, gloves or other small essentials. An open mesh compartment will keep your smaller items confined.
One of my favorite features is the small zippered pocket right behind the riveted and double-stitched handle. The pocket is the perfect size and the ideal location to keep your ticket, cell phone and car keys where they're secure but handy at a moments notice. There is also a small loop at the top of the bag that is designed to help you quickly pick up and close the bag as you move away from the conveyor or security area.
There are 2 additional side pockets that balance the classy look of the Atlas and add keep your most needed small items quickly at hand. One pocket is designed with your water bottle in mind. There is an elastic loop to slip over the top of the bottle to hold it in place. Both side pockets zip closed and have a mesh interior pocket.
All of Atlas's external zippers are size 10 metal zippers which is larger and more durable than the zippers you will find on most other backpacks. The zipper pulls are large and easy to grasp. The large compartments each have 2 zipper pulls for your convenience. The zipper on the large laptop compartment is also equipped with lock holes to further protect your valuables.
The overall color of the Atlas is black with the orange interior and a bit of orange lining of the newspaper pocket that looks like trim. Instead of constructing the Atlas in one single material, Everki made the overall backpack out of a sturdy woven black material which looks like canvas with some nylon added for a bit of sheen. Then they added a bit of flair with front panels of a black honeycomb pattern which is very attractive. The final accent is a copper colored ring on the front of the backpack. This is an attractive design feature with no stated purpose but it is sturdy enough to hold a small flashlight or an MP3 player while you're on the go. The Atlas is designed to meet the aesthetic and functional needs of the most demanding travelers. They were successful.
The Atlas sits comfortably with the weight of your laptop, tablet and the rest of your gear evenly distributed by the padded shoulder straps, the 5-Point Balance Strap System, and the extra cushioning of the lumbar pad. This brilliant balancing system makes even a heavy load sit more lightly on your shoulders. The zippered compartments and storage options will keep you working efficiently with all the things you need within easy reach. The Atlas offers Style, comfort, convenience, security, and durability to make your travels as stress-free as possible.
