Located in the heart of downtown, just steps from the bustling nightlife of Sixth Street, Ruth’s Chris Steak House serves up sizzling steaks and personal service.

The restaurant's namesake is New Orleans native Ruth Fertel, who purchased a restaurant called Chris Steak House from a newspaper classified ad for $18,000. At the time, she was a recently divorced, single mother of two young boys, who had been working as a lab technician when she took a leap of faith and jumped heart-first into the restaurant business. Fertel's gamble paid off and she became one of the pioneers of the fine dining steak house chain category, building the Ruth's Chris brand to more than 140 locations around the world.

Father’s Day is June 15 and could be the perfect time to sample the steaks and seafood at Ruth's Chris Austin. Specials for the day include twin coldwater lobster tails and the choice of a 12-ounce ribeye for $58.95 or 6-ounce filet for $48.95. There’s also a children’s menu, priced at $13.95.

Long-time general manager Sal Olivas has a passion for creating the perfect setting for families to enjoy a special occasion. “My absolute favorite thing to do is placing one of our sizzling steaks in front of a happy, hungry guest," said Olivas.

Favorite dishes of managers Brad Maples and Wendy Berecki include live main lobster, 16-ounce bone-in filets and lobster mac and cheese, which includes tender lobster mixed with a blend of three cheeses and mild green chilis.

Twelve-year veteran Buddy Jordan manages the bar and is famous for his vintage-inspired cocktails, 10-year Bulleit bourvon, and The New Fashioned, a twist on founder Ruth’s favorite.
