This restaurant has the traditional Thai cuisine, but also interesting cultural blends of Laos, Burmese, and the northern Thai foods. Lotus of Siam is an unassuming eatery just down from the Las Vegas Strip on Sahara Boulevard. It’s in a dark (at night) and plain looking commercial center complex. Once inside you will find this restaurant is comfortable with a pleasant clean décor. Their wine cellar is a huge room encased in floor to ceiling glass just off the main dining room with a very large selection of international and domestic wines.
There are many dishes worthy of noting here. Try the Tom Ka Gai tangy, spicy and lots of flavor or perhaps the coconut soup. The grilled thick slice beef or spicy Thai papaya salad are great choices. The must try slow cooked tender short ribs in Penang Curry a truly delicious treat. One should sample the ocean fresh Sea Bass or Crispy Duck on smoky drunken noodles. Don’t leave out the traditional prepared Pad Thai, another favorite. There’s the Deep Fried Garlic Prawns drenched in garlic, lime chili sauce or the Northern Thai Stew with or without blood. Also the red curry with tofu with fresh basil and bamboo is a favorite. Those that love catfish will enjoy the many varieties and preparations available. The grilled catfish salad with essence of lime is a treat. The soft shell crab has honorable mention for sure and the list goes on! You are certain to find a culinary delight just to your desirable palette here!
Good attentive friendly service, knowledgeable on the huge wine selection many kinds of Japanese Sake. The Banzai Bunny is blueberry sake with a sweet flavor, a real favorite!
There’s the lunch time buffet and it’s outstanding and tasty but that’s another delicious story to be addressed in the future.
This is Thai food at its best; Lotus of Siam should be on your food bucket list when in Vegas; escape the Strip and seek this restaurant out. You will be glad you did!
