Chicago's favorite St. Patrick's Day traditions all happen when Chicagoans welcome St. Patrick's Day this weekend! Especially with plenty of things to do on this Emerald Holiday in Chicago. Even though this year, St. Patrick's Day falls on Sunday, March 17. Starting 3pm on Friday, this entire weekend of fun events is celebrating with the Irish. Events include the annual St. Patrick's Day parade, dyeing the Chicago River green, and other great Chicago St. Patrick's Day inspired things to do.

On Saturday, March 16. Race starts at 9:30 a.m. is St. Paddy's 5K/8K Run & Leprechaun Leap . Style your favorite green running gear for the annual St. Paddy's run/walk or crawl to benefit the Irish American Heritage Center. It will be held in Chicago's Lincoln Park. The Race will include a 5K Run & Walk and 8K Run along Chicago's lakefront. A Post-Race Party with live music; and a costume. All finishers of this timed event will receive a green refreshing adult beverage.

St. Patrick's Day in Chicago is a holiday when the Irish pubs are packed, with green beer drinkers lining the city streets looking for a Mc-Porta Potty. While the Chicago River dissolves into a vibrant shade of emerald green, hey it's just a coincidence. At 10:00am: Saturday March 16th, because it's really a little leprechaun magic the whole river is turned a beautiful green.

The Chicago River only stays green for about five hours, so don't miss out. The best viewing spots from the East side of the bridge, between Michigan Avenue and Columbus Drive. In what might be the city's most famous St. Patrick's Day tradition, 40 pounds of vegetable dye's poured into the Chicago River to turn it emerald green for the holiday.

Anyway here's the breakdown, of festivities in no particular order..
Beginning at 12:00 noon, Saturday March 16th. Our Downtown Annual Chicago's St. Patrick's 58th Annual Parade begins at noon on Saturday, March 16, beginning at Balbo and Columbus at noon. Attracts about 400,000 people. The 2013 Chicago Saint Patrick's Day Parade....starts at Balbo and Columbus. The parade units will proceed north on Columbus Drive The VIP viewing stand will be located in front of Buckingham Fountain.

There's a Hangover Saint Paddy’s Pub Crawl for Irish Chicagoans centered around Wrigleyville bars in Chicago with registration at Dugout Sports Bar and Sound-Bar.Which cost about $5 per person. Be sure to come decked out in green.

Now in its 16th year...St Patty's Crawl Chicago, is the end all of granddaddy St Patrick's Day related pub crawl. It totally embodies a exciting energy and original experience that is says St Patrick’s Day in Chicago. Always' achieving record setting attendance, almost 500 people attended the 2012 party, so why not join in on this years!

Saturday, March 16th, 2013, there's a open bar at Castle Chicago Excalibur Nightclub from 9:30 AM till 1:30 PM. It includes the following: domestic beer also mixed well drinks. There's a Three-day Pub Crawl Erin go-for-broke St. Paddy’s Bar Crawl Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with “Green Kegs & Hammered” simply a three-day bar-crawl-slash-bender.
