Bitten follows Elena Michaels who thought she had left the world of supernatural behind, until the night she got a mysterious call from her pack leader asking her to come back. So now she is heading back, away from her normal life as a photographer in Toronto and back into the world of werewolves, full of rules about protect the pack and a man she had spent years trying to forget. As if things were not bad enough, Elena also happens to be the only living female werewolf left. The series plays up like any of the other genre films, but the unique twist with her being the only female werewolf adds an interesting dynamic. Here they do a decent job keeping the idea of the werewolf intact using the pact idea which brings more of a family dynamic between the characters as opposed to just the monster clashing. AS with any of these stories they have to have some outside conflict to deal with and they have one that is threatening to destroy their family. With the female played by Laura Vandervoort dealing with her being the only female werewolf then packing on the pack struggles and her trying to hold together the new life she created helps this series step out of the norm and more entertaining. The first half of this first season is a bit slow and hard to really get into, but once it finds its footing it gets pretty good. This is one of those shows that has no doubt found a following and will only grow if they can keep the momentum going.

This collection features all 13-uncut season one episodes as well as numerous special features including commentary, deleted scenes, and featurettes that takes you further inside the series. While you may have to wait until 2015 for the all-new season you can get caught up or revisit the first season when Bitten: The Complete First Season hits Blu-ray and DVD on August 12th.
