Dining at Roy's Hawaiian Fusion Cuisine in Anaheim’s Anaheim GardenWalk is always a special treat. Knowing we were going to be in Anaheim for the weekend, Roy’s email special provided just the incentive we needed to return. We got $25 off because Dorothy is a member of Roy’s “ohana” or email family.
Having been here once before, Dorothy knew it was important to make reservations so our wait for a booth was very short. Our dining experience was wonderful from the beginning. We had excellent service from both Julianne and her assistant, Karen. We started with edamame, instead of bread, and my fresh brewed iced tea while reading the menu.
Roy’s presented a delightful looking special menu for a three course dinner called a prix fixe. The wonderful part for me was that they also had an excellent menu for gluten-free meals including a prix fix option there too.
Summer Prix Fixe Menu, $36.95
Dorothy ordered the summer prix fixe dinner. This seasonal prix fixe was different from the national summer special. Interestingly, it is now the Fall Prix Fixe Menu on Roy’s website.
Appetizer - Crispy Wagyu Beef Gyoza with Sesame Citrus Shoyu
The Gyoza were like beef potstickers. This was something different from this Summer Prix Fixe Menu. They were delicious. We enjoyed the sauce too.
Entrée - Macadamia Nut Crusted Mahi Mahi & Braised Beef Short Rib
Dorothy’s main course was Macadamia Nut Crusted Mahi Mahi with Lobster Cream & Braised Beef Short Rib with Natural Braising Sauce. These were incredibly tasty dishes. The fish was served over asparagus while her short ribs rested on a bed of mashed potatoes.
Dessert - Macadamia Nut Cremeux White Chocolate & Lemon Sablé Cookies, Blueberry Sauce
The only difference between Dorothy’s dessert and the current fall special is that it is now Vanilla Bean Cremeux instead of the Macadamia Nut Cremeux. They were exceptional.
Gluten-Free Prix Fixe Menu, $36.95
My prix fixe was from the gluten-free menu. The items could have been ordered separately for a total of $47.85. However, there was a savings of $10.95 for getting the three items together as a prix fixe.
Appetizer - Teppanyaki Seared Tiger Shrimp - $10.95 if ordered separately
These four tiger shrimp were firm and nice sized. They were delightful.
Entrée - Hibachi Grilled Salmon - $25.95 if ordered separately
The Hibachi Grilled Salmon with Japanese Citrus Ponzu Sauce was excellent. The salmon was firm and flaky with delicious flavor.
Dessert - Roy’s Melting Hot Chocolate Soufflé - $10.95 if ordered separately
This Melting Hot Chocolate Soufflé included Belgian chocolate, raspberry coulis, and vanilla bean ice cream. The vanilla bean ice cream was wonderfully rich. Additionally, neither Dorothy nor I could tell the hot chocolate soufflé was made with gluten-free flour. It was a marvelous dessert.
These dinners were wonderful. We enjoyed the fusion cuisine that Roy Yamaguchi developed by combining European techniques and Asian cuisine. The service and atmosphere were everything we expected from a fine dining restaurant. Fortunately, we were very comfortable despite being dressed casually. We definitely look forward to returning as Roy’s earned 5 stars.

We were really impressed with how smoothly Roy’s made this for us. There was a button to make your reservation in the email. When she clicked on the button to make our reservation, Roy’s Restaurant’s site applied the $25 coupon immediately to the reservation. By the time we got seated, our server already had the information saving us having to remember to give her a coupon or some such thing. Roy’s handled it for us.
Roy’s Hawaiian Fusion Cuisine is located in the Anaheim GardenWalk facing Katella and between Bubba Gump’s and McCormick & Schmick’s.
