The year is 2154 and the privileged and the rich now live in space, on a station. On Elysium the air is clean, there is no poverty and deasises can be cured by technology; cancer, a broken leg, radiation posnsing, you name it, while on Earth life is a day to day struggle. Everyone lives in mud homes, there are robots policing Earth everywhere. Basicly Earth looks like the apocalypse hit it and some humans survived.
Max, (Matt Damon) living on Earth, working in a factory, where police robots are made. When Max gets exposed to radiation at work and has five days to live, he decides he must get to Elysium. In order to get a ticket to Elysium he decides to take on a job by a group that is planning to overtake Elysium.
On Elysium, Defense secretary Delacourt (Jodi Foster) will do anything to stop illegals from landing on the station. She also uses a rogue agent, named Kruger (Sharlto Copely) on earth to help her, which is illegal.
It’s a very basic plot but as a sci-fi fan I enjoyed it. Much more than Neill Blomkamp’s District 9 but you can see landscapes from that movie.
The action doesn't let up and during the times it was slow didn't bore at all. Jodi Foster did very good at being a villainess and Sharlto Copely was someone you wouldn’t want to mess with. Matt Damon was, well Damon. And the exoskeleton article I put up before. This comes more to what the real thing would be like.
