Elizabeth Chambers is a native Oregonian and no stranger to the world of winemaking. She is the third generation of her family to craft Pinot Noir in Oregon’s Willamette Valley. She established her eponymous winery, Elizabeth Chambers Cellar in 2013. Working with long time Willamette Valley winemaker Michael Stevenson and a few select grape growers they are crafting high quality and distinct Oregon Pinot Noir. Elizabeth Chambers Cellar has just started distributing nationwide insuring you can get some of these wines for your own cellar.
The Elizabeth Chambers Cellar Winemaker’s Cuvee, Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley, 2011 uses grapes from Freedom Hill and Lazy River vineyards to create this blend.
Its color is ruby red and has aromas of strawberry and raspberry jam with hints of earthiness in the background. The red fruit are the first flavors to hit the tongue with tangy citrus acidity to add balance to the fruit. Soft smooth tannins lead to a medium finish. Salmon is the classic pairing for Pinot Noir and this wine will pair greatly with the fatty fish. The fruit and acidity also make this wine great for summer salads, grilled chicken and herb marinated vegetables.
The only problem is this wine is so tasty it keeps you wanting more, this is no wimpy wine, soft and elegant and very well balanced.
