The DC Independent Film Festival runs this coming week from March sixth until the tenth and I have been fortunate to review some of the shorts and films featured. Make sure to stop by to watch the films, or attend the seminars and workshops. And check the reviews on this column throughout the week.
Echoes is an intriguing journey through a grieving man’s subconscious. This short is loosely based on the Greek myth of Echo and Narcissus. After finding his girlfriend dead, Narciso (Glen Blackhall) talks to himself in the mirror trying to figure out what happened. Add an inspector to the mix, and this sordid short becomes tangled as the details twist until the plot unravels down a very dark road.
With Italian subtitles, this short conveys interest and keeps the momentum going long enough for the story to climax.
The short will play on Saturday, March 9th on the block titled Shorts Program: Narrative Shorts, from 12Pm to 2:30PM. Perhaps you will be able to cross paths with director Andrea La Mendola, who is coming for the short’s screening.
Read the review of other shorts featured in the festival, Titans of Newark, and A Cure.
