Dying Evolution, a band formed in late February of the year 2009, is a group of dedicated
musicians, with a love for rock or progressive rock music. They are one of the more mellow acts in
the local music scene; in contrast, they are also one of the more underrated ones. They take rock and
mellower metal songs and give them their own spin. This group really tends to make every cover their
own and their originals are very well written.
The original line up was made up of: guitarist James Johnson, second guitarist Michael Pina,
drummer Cameron Hay, and singer Matt Medeiros. However, after a fair few lineup changes, only
guitarist James and drummer Cameron remain as original members of the band. Their current lineup is:
James Johnson on guitar, Cameron Hay on the drums, and current female singer Meghan Nigrelli. The
band is currently looking for a permanent bassist, but is still pushing through for their fans by booking
acoustic shows with James, Cameron, and Meghan. Dying Evolution is one of the very few local bands
that has a female lead singer but it works out well for them. Meghan rounds out the progressive rock
sound very nicely, bringing her own brand of vocal energy into an already great mix.
