'The League: Season 4'

One of the defining comedies on FX is 'The League'. It has sustained itself for quite awhile, which is often rare for comedies..

This review concerns itself with the fourth season.

Please refer to the third season.

The big difference this year is that there are some life changes for some of the characters. Kevin and Jenny have another child, Andre, Pete and even Taco experience some semblance of love. With the very slight maturation of some of the guys, the comedy seems to veer ever-so closer to 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' territory, especially in a few choice episodes.

It also seems as though football keeps getting pushed to the backburner which isn’t a bad thing at all. There are callbacks from earlier in the season which is rewarding and a byproduct of existing for awhile.

One of the absolute highlights is an episode that features a rival group during a tailgate. Ike Barinholtz really steals the show in much the same way that Jason Mantzoukas has since the second season. Also keep an eye out for the closest thing to a Christmas episode we have gotten so far, one that introduces Krampus.

Another year, another round of celebrity appearances. More figures from the NFL come out to grab some screen time.

Special features include: deleted scenes, Taco Tones, Rafi's holiday tips, Witchy Woman Podcast, a gag reel and Alt Nation.

'The League: The Complete Fourth Season' simply is more of the same yet also offers up some much-needed character growth.
