Carrie and Mr. Big are off, but is it for good? The other women continue on as we have come to expect. New York is a place where anything good or bad is possible, so don't be surprised by the weirdos that these women encounter.
This season eliminates Carrie talking directly to the camera which is a plus. The writing is also even stronger. There are some legitimately funny moments to be found. The episodes also seem to be constructed a little tighter with the themes being explored reflecting the subject of Carrie's article near the start of each episode.
Apparently, the first season did well enough with 12 episodes because starting here, we are expanded to 18. As long as you're enjoying yourself, this just means more bang for your buck. A lot of ground is covered this season with four assertive main characters.
Carrie is still the only character with a semi-consistent relationship. Miranda is introduced to a guy who pops up a few times, so let's keep an eye on that. There is no shortage of bizarre guys for them to go out with and promptly run away from, but one has to wonder how long the Carrie/Mr. Big game of tug of war can go on. She spends a lot of the first and last third of the season separated from Big, but constantly pines over him. Can the series effectively milk it for another four season?
Keep an eye out for some nice guest stars and cameos. Some of the actors/actresses who pop up in here had yet to really hit it big yet.
