The term “They don’t make them like they used to” best describes quite a few products these days, but this term can also be utilized in illustrating less tangible examples as well, i.e. films, radio programs, and yes even cartoons.
Looney Tunes has long been synonymous with both funny and fresh storytelling and some of the best animators in the business giving life to those infamous Mel Blanc lines. Warner’s latest offering boasts “Zee best of Zee best” from that Romeo of reek Pepe le Pew, but could also be dubbed “Zee complete works of Pepe” because although it should feel like the skunk with the sizeable swagger appeared in countless vivacious ventures, his pursuits only amounted to these seventeen stalkings.
And while this set is quite fetching as the only true compilation of Pepe’s cumulative works, the total absence of extras could be a concern for those looking for “zee total packeege!” But for those star-crossed lovers of beautifully animated fluff and fans who can’t get enough of Pepe’s love-starved stuff, the Looney Tunes Pepe Le Pew Collection wafts its way into your heart with stinky hijinks and sweet silliness.
