Friday night Dumptruck Butterlips put on a two-set party of fun, funky songs that led to a dance contest and celebrated upright bassist Megan's birthday! The Bottleneck started rockin' around 11 p.m. with the bands' wide variety of sounds and styles exploring everything from funky bluegrass to soulful blues.
Dumptruck Butterlips changes things up with every song utilizing various instruments like guitar and stand-up bass, accordion, spoons, washboard and electric keys. The vocals of Mr. Mustard, Ziggy and Surka pluck at the heart strings and capture every listeners full attention.
This most recent show featured all the bands best hits along with a new song "Pleasure Playground," a psychedellic escape, with just a hint of The Doors swimming beneath the surface. Swinging from slow, hearty ballads to fast, dancing jigs, Dumptruck Butterlips held a full dance floor throughout both sets with their well-paced two sets.
What really makes Dumptruck Butterlips special is; not only are the band members all talented musicians with sweet, clever songs, but they are charismatic entertainers with fun banter, jokes and a contagious case of good vibes that always sets the right mood. The positive energy of a Dumptruck Butterlips show is something you have to experience in-person. Check out their regular performances on Speakeasy Sundays at the Jazzhaus and if you can make it to Winfield, party with them there too!
