Drowned Souls haunt Ghost Hunters

All that remained of the flooded cemetery was a pair of broken tombstones and the crumbled remains of a wall. The Ghost Hunters stopped their boat in the river and called out to the spirits of the haunted cemetery.

In perhaps the creepiest installment yet, "Flooded Souls," the Ghost Hunters found themselves investigating the Hales Bar Marina and Dam. The surrounding cemetery was flooded when the dam broke back in the 1960s, resulting in tombstones that protrude out of nowhere along the river and a half-submerged brick building that the hunters believed to be a mausoleum, complete with trees growing from the top of it.

Britt Griffith tried to look inside the mausoleum with a waterproof camera on a pole. As he pushed the camera past the doors and stared a the ceiling inside the tomb, Griffith shrieked as something shot out from inside.

Sadly, it was a startled bird and not a ghost.

When the team investigated the marina, the paranormal activity spiked. Everyone on the team heard odd sounds in the near-abandoned warehouse. Lockers slammed above them when no one was in the vicinity, sounds of footsteps creaked along the catwalk, a shrill scream was heard in the blackness.

Members of the ghost-hunting team, Amy Bruni and Adam Berry, heard a woman whispering in an indistinct dialect from the darkness. At the center of the marina was a creepy, ever-spinning whirlpool.

It looks like a hurricane. Amy whispered while scanning the heat sensor over the pool.

Supposedly running water stirs up paranormal activity and this was no exception.

Meanwhile Dave Tango and Steve Gonsalves explored the stark concrete tunnels running alongside the dam. According to local legend, workers fell into the concrete during the construction of the dam. Tango and Gonsalves heard sounds of footsteps coming down the stairs and from a cooridor, which turned out to be a dead end.

Overall, the episode "Flooded Souls" turned out to be good creepy fun with a lot of bumps, strange noises and creepy whispering to keep you on edge. The images from the flooded cemetery alone made it well worth watching.

Ghost Hunters airs at 8 p.m. CST Wednesday on SyFy.
